Abrupt departures

posted in media |

Last week, after the abrupt departure of a Chief of Staff (you know where), someone posted the disingenuous remark on social media about resemblances; in this case between the former reality show and the current one. As in, “tune in next Friday, to see who got fired”.

Didn’t have to wait that long. Monday, first thing, the new communications director suddenly became the former communications director. Seems that his potty-mouth press efforts last week were too much for the chief executive of the manor. Wow! How do people even keep up, what with the rate of attrition?

But that’s not my worry. No, I’m more enthralled by the decision to send a pair of long range bombers over the top of the other Crazytown… Korea, North. A chance to wave and waggle the tail feathers, or something in that vein. There’s been “relative” peace in that region for all of my lifetime. Could this be a sign that times really are changing (and not for the better)?

My son pooh-poohs the notion. He believes that the Chinese are far too wise to allow such shenanigans in their own back yard. After all, borders don’t stop bullets. I fear that the best of intentions might get lost in translation, given that the current “leader of the free world” doesn’t even master his own language, let alone that of a foreign power. And tweets are notoriously one-sided, as a method of informed conversation. Best put aside an extra bag of rice, just in case. Keeps longer in the larder than potatoes.
