Grounded by the breezes
When it comes to identifying the various clients of our seed dispensers, I’m a recognition rookie. Turns out that the robins don’t care for my fare, and when the usual (blue jays) give space, all kinds of new and interesting faces show up. Like this one.
Pretty as a parrot, this fellow! I’ll get around to looking him up, while muttering that we need a Facebook for Birds.
Actually, it was due in part to significant breezes that I was able to get this shot. Grounded, by whatever authority controls the local airspace. With the wind in mind, the dog and I took a quick run up to the lighthouse. Much better chance to see the effects of “wind on the water”. Obviously, the lobster boats were moored in consequence.
A photo doesn’t do justice. Without the sound and the fury (and the cold wind that invites a parka), it’s hard to judge what the leadup to summer implies. Note the absence of swimmers. We’re only a few weeks away from the onslaught of visitors from “away”. The restaurants are opening (my favourite fish place is now serving) and the roar of motos has started.
Meanwhile, my partner in long tranquil days was off to Costco (a province and a bridge toll away), so the dog and I pretended that nothing was out of the ordinary. I wonder if he ever realizes how much effort I put into assuring a stable routine. Life is more than a box of biscuits, buddy. Tomorrow, you might have to entertain me!
