I really should try staying asleep longer, at least on a travel day. Yes, my “get up and get at it” personality tricks me, particularly when faced with endless hours in a small car. Ignore that other voice in the room, proclaiming that I actually snore the miles away. An exaggeration.

Several months back (not going to bother checking the exact date; it’s irrelevant), our big screen TV died. We didn’t hesitate. The replacement was up on the wall within a day, because some things can’t wait. Except that we had one more step in this process. The old TV had to go.

One of the kids sent me a rather interesting aerial view, of the falls near where we used to live.

The sun rose, and the rain stopped. With that, I ran out of excuses and had to come along for another long and winding walk. We’re in the woods, and the trail goes up, down, around; repeat until the return flag is raised. My hope of seeing a bear, to turn this into a bona fide adventure… never happened.

I could have stayed for another day, in a place where one of the electoral postulates is an actual C&W celebrity, but we had to keep movin’ on.

The shoulder season, wherein camping becomes a feat. We plan (still plan) to head for the Really Much Larger city tomorrow. The vehicle is loaded, and our route is familiar. What gums up things is that our traditional parking place might not be available. Go on… In reality, the Canadian version of a shoulder season is more like a precipice.

Blame it on geography. Getting from “here” to “there” means taking routes that others have set out, if you are dependent on a vehicle. Living on one coast limits the possible roads you can take to wherever. Travel more than once and you may end up passing through familiar territory.
