A moose, for real
I really should try staying asleep longer, at least on a travel day. Yes, my “get up and get at it” personality tricks me, particularly when faced with endless hours in a small car. Ignore that other voice in the room, proclaiming that I actually snore the miles away. An exaggeration.
Anyhow, we were across the bridge long before lunchtime, and across the whole of the “drive through” province long before suppertime. In fact, I don’t remember those meals. Maybe I was asleep.
If you wonder how long we have before the end of the world, rest calm. According to the road signs, provincial highway #185 will be under construction through 2022, so there are years to go. That highway (a full one hundred kilometres in length) has been in constant disarray for more that fifty years. I know; my life has followed the trail at least once a year, every year. You can’t fool the old folks.
Another travel note, from today. I saw a moose, right beside the moose wire. First time! I looked twice to be certain it wasn’t a huge horse shaped shadow with a fancy hat.
By the time we reached the big city, our destination, I was still hungry, so I opted to revisit my favourite Thai takeout. They still have those cool boxes with too much food inside. I noticed that prices had gone up (OK, doubled) in the last five years, but this qualifies as a special occasion. I am here and I am hungry. Any other questions?
We visited son #1, long enough to see his new apartment and eat some takeout Thai, before getting a room in a nearby motel. The dog is really pleased with his choice of beds, and we’ll share the rest. On the TV, hockey (not me running the remote). I recognize one of the team logos, which should count for something.
