See my saw
Buying used equipment can be a great deal. You get something that has been proven to work, you save money over retail, you get to put a lot of effort into shopping. Fun for the whole household. I have got some of my best stuff that way.
Buy now, I want to peer over the fence, and try to understand how the other side of the bargain works. I have not sold many things that way. A slightly used electric lawn mower comes to mind. How does the seller decide on the right price point, and who takes care of the inconvenience of waiting around for someone with a wad of cash. Most of us have little experience with being a vendor.
I have some stuff that was bought, some years ago, and then never really used. One piece, a large miter saw, was purchased at full retail, with the plan of redoing my floor. And then we sold the house, and the saw, still in its box, hitched a ride in the van and hunkered down in our garage.
Now, the garage is slowly emptying, and the saw has to go. Has to be seen, and my price has to find a willing taker. Like most people, I have a belief that my stuff is great, and should merit top dollar. The people scanning want ads might have a different take on that.
We shall see. No ad posted out, but it will be. The number of people who plane to rebuild their house from the inside out are limited. I look forward to seeing how it goes, and I will never buy a big saw, again. Too afraid for my digits.
