Solstice supper served at lunch
Based on several minutes of research, I now know that this is the solstice. Not the midsummer night. Not sure if anyone really cares. Today, the temperature rose sharply, and we picked up the first real round of sit and sweat in the car. Just like summer.
For the record, we had gone out to the National Park, and then found a place to get my first meal of scallops this year. So good. Yes, I had an audible gasp moment, when the price was revealed. I may have stayed home during the pandemic, but the prices continued to spiral upwards. Life on a fixed income.
We made a detour to the city, to get a new electric blanket for when the nights go back to chill mode. I am looking forward to some current draw testing. Based on today’s purchase, we may need to do some deeper research, about a blanket that can only be used for an hour at a time which precludes a restful night.
The afternoon also included some initial tests with the stowable table, I do not bend at the waist as well as foreseen so more back padding will be required. I will test and draw new conclusions. The finest in scientific methodology.
Back to the solstice date. Happens every year, even if I am not paying attention. I admit, when I was younger, I was more worried about exams and summer vacation. Now, I have time to overthink details. The shortest night of the year. Cool. Even when it is not.
