Practice plans
Just had a good idea. What if we did some short trips, this summer. Stay close to home, but get away from the usual living quarters. We should, soon, receive the new RV, and we could also go way, but this would be a manner to test things. Look for flaws.
Like, we could fill the water tank, and charge the batteries, and then stay in the driveway. And once we felt comfortable and confident, we could go to a nearby beach. Or a museum parking lot. Even a church, on a non holy day. Again, just testing.
Some places do put up signs forbidding overnights, but who actually checks? I could say that I want to test radio reception, or watch for interesting sky shows. I could bring a musical instrument, and play, softly. Like a composer. Would anyone actually stop by to see why we were stationary? I don’t know.
There are also shopping malls, where I could wait for a given store to open. Check on new mobile phones, or wait for food delivery. Maybe Big Mac, with the claim that I want an early breakfast. I don’t know if that would break any bylaws, and in our smaller towns there might not be bylaws. Lawless frontiers. If rousted, I can explain that I am waiting for our travel partners to catch up. A delayed boat, or motor problems.
The dog could be an issue, or a virtue. Claim that he is having trouble sleeping, as he snores in the rear. I am getting keen. I want to do things that are novel, and not just stay in my favourite chair.
The driveway will be there, if things get tricky. A matter of hours, and I am sure that the authorities are too busy to bother with old people in a van.
