Toe test
Thermal shock. Like when I go outside in the snow, unprepared. I keep my boots close by, just in case.
Similarly, I now have to deal with thermal flavour shock. The words on a carton of ice cream are not always enough warning for my taste buds. Today, something that might have been a cookie, in its earlier life. It was still good, and I will ask around, to learn the specifics of my taste test. Ice cream is fairly safe.
What other surprises are out there. We have a standard set of condiments, so I just sallow small amounts. Mustard tastes like mustard.
I just received one of those phone calls warning that there two fraudulent charges against my name. When I finally got to a human, I asked the obvious question. What was my name? The disconnect was immediate. What do I have to say to get a long rambling conversation moment. At least when there was an email of dubious content, I could see where things were headed. But since. Not so much.
Yes, I could be shocked, but until we change our area, all is good. There are unknowns at the door, but if the person knows my name, I will assume they are there for a good reason. Yes, travel will have its own set of unknowns.
I haven’t seen (sic_ many immediate family members lately, and I will trust them to be kind. I will refrain from blurting out names, until I have more evidence. A warning, to my siblings and progeny. The idea of travel is now enticing.
