Wander while we wonder
During the brief interlude before supper, we went off for a ride along the north side. This is the time of year were signs of spring are everywhere. Ducks in the lake. Lanes now open for travel. Realtor signs, as well. Now, we are not seeking a new place, but it is fun to see what might be available to the kids, if they suddenly became rich.
I should add that good deals remain available for a brief time. Days, hours, less if you aren’t aware of the signs . Our rumor that the old glebe was up for sale might have been true, several days ago, but the sold sign is now in place. Who, from where, for what price. Actually we have no idea about any of the answers.
I used to know who lived where. A lifetime later, I can tell you how the mailboxes used to read, but the times have changed. Now, we have community mailboxes, and no way of knowing who is down at the end of a given lane. That disappoints me, greatly. Mind, even my own house is behind the trees and identified by a civic number. Anonymity. Unless you know someone who knows someone.
Even the realtor listing gave us no hint of what might be available. We will check, again, later in the week. It is the time of the season for the locally curious. It doesn’t matter, not really. We have our place. All the rest is just whimsy. It does remind us that we were, and are, fortunate. Now, spring allows us to watch for flowers and birds.
