It could be a fable. It could be true. Along the way, I have heard that a camel with too much weight in the lacks will simply squat down and wait for relief. In simpler terms, that straw could break his back, except that he’s too smart for that. Note: not lazy, smart. To each camel, the right payload.
Humans aren’t always that canny. I have been listening to a story about someone that broke their truck. In half, literally. Big plans, and deep pockets allowed someone to build a dream camper. Married a big box with a big rig, because the numbers on a website made the idea plausible. And unfortunately, when things went terribly wrong, be believes that the manufacturer had his back. Not so. Overloaded, but their fault.
I am not enough of a big red toolbox guy to dream about a home build. I’ll buy from the factory, and trust their knowledge or what will work. And I am sure there are many people that do the tabletop math and decide they can do better, cheaper. Again, not my way of doing things.
The fable about the camel reflects a lot of back knowledge, garnered the hard way. Camels are obstinate, and they know what will work (for them). People with big dreams forget that you have to do more than “hitch up the wagon”.
Anyhow, sometimes you pay for experience. Building your own camper is a perfect example. Unless, of course, you are planning to park and enjoy the view. At the factory. Forget driving home beforehand. And on a similar note, keep your load small.
