Early start to mud season

posted in Uncategorized |

Outside I don’t need (or w, a driving rain. There is a new generation that may have to forego the joys of a toboggan on a hillside. Yes, things have changed.

I didn’t wander around outside, because I don’t own oilskins. Don’t want to, but that is a different issue. Apparently, many local lanes are wearing the mud that used to be part of springtime. I don’t need to park out by the road, and then carry everything to the house. You know how it is. We get used to convenience.

I did investigate recharging my CO2 bottle, but the big tank shows signs of requiring a trip to the city. Inconvenience to save money.  Adding that to the task list.

We held with a tradition of watching political year-end programs. The content doesn’t translate well to here. Yes, the issues are similar, but these are comedic efforts that require imitation. Voice, accent, whatever. I have missed out on almost a decade of headlines, and the lack of familiarity leads to gentle contempt. Political satire is really only appropriate when you “know” the names. Specifically. On network TV, King Denny doesn’t get a mention. Nothing. Nada.

I guess if I want satire, I will have to produce it.

Sent mixed holiday and birthday wishes to my youngest sibling. Soon be time to plan a retirement gala. A bit far to drive, but I could make a one time exception.

On  the local wanted list, an electric blanket. Something I have never owned, but I hear they are great for a chilly night. As long as there is electricity. Perhaps I can jury rig a genny that is bike powered. Keep my warm at the same time.
