Wisdom

posted in Uncategorized |

Not sure where, but at some point I read that “with age comes wisdom”. On a poster, or worse, on an embroidery sampler. That’s proof of age, if you even know what that might be.

Let’s analyse things, based on real-life experience. When I was younger, I did things that make me cringe in retrospect. Those fun times of running down a hilly road, on a bicycle, in the dark; done. Those happy wander sessions through utility tunnels (again, in the dark): done. I have many more in the same vein.

And now, with age, I’ve changed my habits. When I go to the basement, I turn on the lights (and close the door at the top of the stairs to keep the dog from following and falling. I’m old, but I am wiser. The dog, not so much. I eat my food after cooking thoroughly. I no longer make random phone calls, although the introduction of caller  (D is more to blame.

And I write for my audience. I will deny stupid pet tricks. Even if the pet is involved.

Oh, and climbing trees; done.

What about you? Have you changed your routine, due to age and wisdom? If so, let the world know. Post tales of past stupidity, and how you have changed.  Don’t name names; protect the innocent and the guilty through anonymity. Much more entertaining (for the rest of us) to guess who did what, back in the day.  The :statute of limitations” is a TV trope. You could face prosecution for the really great moments. Wisdom, right?
