So, do you echolocate?
Please don’t judge us harshly. The year of ’22 was one where we just didn’t get much camping in. and with that, very little outdoor cuisine. The BBQ became home to a village of wasps, and my tank of propane is still full. No matter. I have good intentions going forward.
One thing that I can do, in this off season, is see what the market has on offer. Gadgets, I mean. My trusty grill is back in the garage, and next year we will be very proactive/reactive toward any squatters. One name that been on the radar recently is Blackstone. And so, naturally, I have watched some videos. First reaction: it seems much easier to clean after use than either the grill or the Coleman. I’m now shopping for the right price, and learning if it can be carried. In the RV. Down to the beach. Back from the beach. You get the idea. I’m too old to lug oversize stuff around.
Today, I had to go out and rescue the bin from the wind. The beast has enough surface area that, even when loaded, it can be upset. And I found that locating errant contents by sound has limitations. I am decidedly not a bat, by birth. Trying to locate white objects on a field of white (literally, a field) is not as much fun as advertised. I do need to find better reading matter.
As for winter camping, my sleeping bag has given a strict NO to that idea. Even the gear knows that some things are seasonal, and ice pellets are contraindicated.
