Planning your getaway home
Let’s take a few minutes, and dig into the memory archives. Go back to when my drafting tools included a few pencils along with a ruler (a straight edge, not royalty). I didn’t have much world experience, so my efforts were rudimentary.
I remember drawing dreams. Structural dreams. My own versions of a fortress of solitude. Imagine a tiny mountain, with many subterran levels, like in a mine. And exits, for my aircraft and ships. There were so many fantastic efforts, and if I had been rich enough, I could have built them. Or had them built for me, because I was (obviously) rich.
I didn’t hang on to my portfolio, but it now seems that there are many others with similar ambitions. Today, I learned about someone who is getting things ready, in case society goes off the rails. Building a home, on an island. Purchased citzenship. Not going to dox anyone here, but when you are rich enough to create your own economy, getting a place that is hard to find is actually not that hard (to do). Just pay the workers well and try not to kill them off in your quest for secrecy. Don’t get mental about this.
Constructing large underground lairs is easy-peasy, if you are a rodent or a rich man. Don’t put a name plate on the concealed entrance, and come to Astay when others are distracted. Total societal breakdown, just as an idea.
Yes, this idea has been monetized. There are firms that build for a select client list, and the comforts of home are part of the package. Not too many windows (underground). True getaway privacy.
