To know when the wind blows

posted in Uncategorized |

A current political theme is “Build Back Better”. Sometimes, you can’t. Today, the weather station returned to its proper place, high over the back yard. However, the three antenna sustems that were co-located aren’t there yet. Maybe it will the the time to choose somewhee nearby, with less windload. Not today; the sun is at an imappropriate angle for me to do anything other than guess at what I want to do. Besides, the weather station takes priourity.

I could not have done this by myself. All praise goes to my spouse. Learning so much, so fast. Before much longer, I will hand off the fancy hat and sweater (not a real thing). And any complaints will be transferred to the appropriate desk. Don’t need complaints.

What have I learned from all this? Well, there are more expensive solutions out there, but this is for my amusement. Knowing that the wind is blowing, and from what quarter, is required. Hurricanes, excepted. I will dig into the data set, to have a sense of what “Force” took down my station, but that’s all in the past. Academic interest.

Schools reopened today, after their brief hiatus. The last few years have been ones for the history books, as yet unwritten. I wonder what the current cohort of students and teachers will remember, a decade from now? We had no buildings knocked down, and the fatality count is ambiguous. No reported book losses, and although a few classrooms did have water in all the wrong places, there are still mops.  Here, at home, I am very satisfied about how my comfort was restored, without much fuss.
