Stop the motion

posted in Uncategorized |

This was a good evening to “go for a ride” as folks say. We had a goal; retrieve some more lobster, and a partial address. More on that, later, maybe.

Part of the ride is the sensation of watching the world move past your windows. Front and sides. Nobody looks behind them. And when you stop, the world stops moving. For most of you. I am learning to accept my new reality, where seeing things that aren’t accurate is just the way it is. Imagine stopping, and having the world around you continue. Animated, without syncro. That is, I have different rates of motion going on, and the “loop” is difficult to calculate. A trigger for motion sickness, in the good old days. Now, I remember that I’m not driving, and if the scenery is moving, I have no real control, other than to close my eyes and pinch my arms. One of the suggestions from a video about mitigating the situation.

We’re home again, where the walls don’t shimmy, and the sleeping dog may snore but without levitation.

Another moment of success. I received a new magnifier. Gift, loan, unknown. It does let me read material from some of my books, slowly. I won’t need to hire a reader, just yet. Not ready to forego books, just yet. Family tree data, while more common online than before, is still buried between the covers, most of the time. I have a lot of research interest left.

Until the next raod afternoon, I’m parked in my favorite seat. The walls and ceiling are stationary.
