Roof all done, no falls felt
Distance is all relative. If the city seems almost too far away to visit (it’s one hour, give or take) there’s a winderful little town just down the way (twenty minutes, with me as the designated passenger). I find that I can get most things I need, although my needs are humble.
Where the proximity matters, is when we need someone to “do something”. Hardware wise. Our little incident involving the wind is now solved. Called the insurance adjuster and he was there in a couple of hours. With some names for possible repair people. Called the first one on the list, this morhing, and they were already off the roof, job done, before I got around to my first coffee of the afternoon. The only sound was a gentle tapping on the roof (no, not reindeer). We’ll get the bill later. They trust us and we trust them. Try that in the big cities. Not even possible.
Of course, we got this hiccup out of the way before any rain or additional wind. I’ll sleep better, and we kept our money in the local area.
Next on my list of things to get done will be installing a screen protector on the new tablet. I’m not a fanatic about such things, but this is new and shiny and I have about that glass surface. So, I’ll add another later of glass: tempered glass, because that provides protection against ball bearings. Saw that on a video, and it makes sense. Random ball bearings are out there. I’ll watch a few installation videos first, because that’s what cautious geeks do for fun.
If only I was that far-sighted about other things.
