Buried treasure? Cool!

Pardon my distracted interest in history. I ended up watching a vdeo about the Templars, who have give so much material to modern pulp fiction. Read any Dan Brown? He doesn’t write history, but he borrows heavily from the canon.

Let’s face it. The Knights had cool clothes, and castles. They may (or may not) have left a lot of buried treasure. Before I headed out with a spade, into the dunes, I thought that I should do my research. And it looks like the treasure burying never happened locally.

Note, I don’t believe everything I learn from history; there could be buried treasure near here, but the odds are better in buying lottery tickets. What I did learn is that the Templars were on a mission, and it managed to get a lot of donor gold. The PAC of the the eleventh century. And they had cool clothes. I do wonder how you kept a long white linen tunic clean, absent washing machines. The order managed to turn order on its ear; armed monks? Who thought up that plot twist?

And it seems that there are fraternal orders that still trip on the details. Without mentioning any names, there are people that put on aprons on a Friday night and carry out fake sword fights. Do your own research. I haven’t belonged to a fraternal order since that brief involvement with cub scouts (Akela?) I can sympathize with the interest; we all need friends, even if they dress oddly and wave sticks. No, not hockey.

Anyhow, that’s how my afternoon went. I am better informed than before about where people hide treasure. Now to get back to my search.
