Can we just get on with our lives?

posted in Uncategorized |

Sitting here on a lovely Friday afternoon, waiting. For the promised propane delivery, mainly. But also for the end of a winter that is now starting to weigh heavily on my spirit.Call it cabin fever. I don’t get out much, other than to medical moments.

We were warned. Making normal go away, and choosing to keep most of us safe is a good plan by a government, for the first year or so. After that, questions pop up. Are we reaally better off, being at home all the time. I’m vaxxed to the max, and eventually the rules have to flex. In some provinces, really soon (even if their health systems aren’t ready for the backlash.

Our health officer told us, this week, that better times are coming.

I am also aware that my recovery from my operation is going forward, albeit slowly. This wasn’t how I wanted to “grow older”. My gracefully is stretched. I am discivering new ways to adapt, but the idea of reading a book or strolling through a retail emporium seems frutless. If I can’t read the labels, why woould I want to shop. Pictures can only take me so far.

There’s always music. There’s always been music. And if I have no auduence (the dog doesn’t give a wag), then I’ll have to imagine a differerent life. My own applause is wanted on me.

The winter will end, right? I’ll be able to sit on a warm beach with some instrunent or other, and pretend that I’m moving forward. Yes, I am really tired of the way that this last few years has burned out. At least there are no noisy trucks parked outside. Others have it worse, it seems.
