Combinations and permutations
Now, I’m going to assign some family names: Crosby, Nash, Stills, Young. If you are part of my age grount, you can find some interesting patterns in the pile. Remember, correlations and combinations. There is no prize in my game.
Going back to when I first started to develop an awareness of artistic efforts, the four musicians have served up a banquet of musical albums. They were there, at Woodstock. And they’ve come along to “now”.
I came across a documentary, presented a few years ago. A reflection on how life gets in the way of dreams, when you are a musician. Fans are rarely aware of how much time goes in abd by between creative efforts (in music). And if we allow for the perutations and “not quite four, but” combinations, things get even mre interesting. I think I’m going to have to relisten to a lot of stuff.
Their history contains some interrupted friendships and some near-death experiences, but this one group captures the last half century better than almoust anyone else. Probably no new LPs will emerge, but that reflects the shift in market, rather than a shift in the tastes of their fans, myself included. At a guess, I could “drop the needle” on amy disk and find something to my liking.
And do I have a personal favorite? No. This is much like life. A lot of great times, and a few heartnreaks. Music should remain interesting, as we get older. Remember, just drop the needle and live the mment. Let the record skip, if it wants.
