Public opinion is a chameleon. Here on the Island, we’ve gone through months of trying to “delete” a statue that was placed in the city core, to give tourists a venue for selfies. No matter that the work of art was mundane and entirely wrong, certain of the city leaders wanted it to stay, because… we still don’t have an answer to that.

Today, I studied the procedures and tools necessary to repair a flat tire. A particular instance, more importantly. If the RV ever gets back on the road, I want to be prepared for what is an eventuality, and I don’t want to rely on spotty web access when it occurs. So today I did the right thing, and I went back to (virtual) school.

My childhood was somewhat underprivileged. You see, it wasn’t until I was fully an adult that I discovered the wonder of cold pizza. Perhaps my family was too large for leftovers, or I may have simply missed those meals. Whatever the reason.

This quarantine might actually end. Today, the premier and the public health officer both used really encouraging words, invoking a return to the status quo by the end of the summer (only one hundred days more). Getting my feet wet was never an issue, when I lived in La Vieille Capitale. We were up the hill, and the authorities had provided lots of ditching to keep any river overflow heading down to the sea. But, for many it was an issue. As son #1 starts the search for an eventual dream home, he’s been forwarding realtor listings. Seeking tacit permission from the parents, I guess.

Based on my limited study of history, I assume that technology has always had a Came/Saw/Conquered/Left Town arc. I mean, I know about blacksmiths and feed mills, even though I have never got close to a horse. Well, except that one that like to hug me, but that’s a tale for another day. Moving along.

Some of the skills I picked up while dabbling in the IT world came into use this afternoon. My neighbour has (had) a lovely laptop that lost out in one of those drop tests. Gravity won. Managed to remove the power connector from the motherboard, which is a bit of a death sentence in this world of “repair nothing”.
