An odd dance

Odd dance going on in our home; I’m trying to “lose” a stone, and my partner for this waltz managed to tweak during a twerk; gardening can be a physical sport. We’re moving slow, hence the waltz tempo. We’re also waiting for a return to something easier to follow. The dog seems bemused. Or amused. I have trouble reading his expressions.

Delaying the bin dump

How lacking in novel content is my existence? Well, I just noted that my bin dump, this week, is scheduled for a national holiday. The date has been rescheduled off to the weekend. And all I can think about is how inconvenient it must be, to give up your Saturday in return for a day when everything will be closed. I guess I don’t have much inconvenience any more. No delayed bus routes. A local store that doesn’t even “do” holidays, so milk will be in the cooler. And if I want to wander the beach, I can accept that we will have a breeze. We always have a breeze. Also, this may be the first time that the dump takes a holiday.

Time to condition my air

A year ago, the idea of getting some conditioning for our house air. We went ahead, because comfort is better than money in the bank, right? Not a big system; one chiller, centrally located. And now, as the temperatures have moved into the “look, it’s summer” stage, I am content with the comfort. In fact, if anyone asks, I feel like this is how I was meant to live.

A visit from some freedom fighters

Some people have a problem with official rules. Yesterday (yes, things have often already occurred by the time I learn about them and react), a pair decided to go for a Saturday drive, over to the Island. Prove that they “ain’t afeard of any epidemic”. Or that the vax doesn’t apply to them, because they are “anti-vax”. OK, we don’t agree with your life choice, but anyhow.

Playtime with some kids

Te web is full of advice at a bargain price. Free, if you don’t count your own time. Today, I learned that while on a cruise ship, I should opt for a room without a window. Costs less, and the view from a porthole is actually not that good. I don’t have an ocean trip in my itinerary, but the advice came without any strings attached.

Let the garden flourish

Yesterday, I noted that there were unmarked graves at a school in SK. Turns out, there may have been markings at one time, but an overzealous official (doublespeak for clergy) had used the school bulldozer to clean up the site. As in, erase any indications that this was a graveyard. I can’t understand any of this.

The tally begins

With a lifelong interest in genealogy, I believe in record keeping. I mean, the whole of our society is based on keeping track of those around us. Births, deaths. The inbetweens. All of our true institutions depend on the sanctity of our system. That’s why the ongoing news leaves me aghast.

Border skirmishing

If I don’t get much else done, at least I can testify to the toilet system reliability of our RV. I went out, this afternoon, backfilled the black and grey from the white, emptied the liquids, refilled the reservoir. All without hiccups. I’m starting to trust myself with the required sequences.

In the absence of any real plan

This must be a Canadian thing: in Saskatoon, a beaver stole a flag (and then ate the flagpole). Picture of his hairyness in supporting evidence.

There’s an app for that, too

,We moving into another phase in this multi-month battle against a virus. I’ll call it the “upload” phase, as a terse but true description. You see, the borders (or as some see them, the frontiers) have been closed since early last year. Sort of. That’s a story for another day.
