Plan(t)ing trees

posted in environment |

My space in the basement has limitations. Physical: walls, doors, a large bedroom which counts as already dedicated to other purposes. And there’s stuff. So, when I had a flash of inspiration (came to me while putting the dog outside in the dark and forgetting to attach his lead) about realignment of that stuff, I took note. Didn’t get around to any movements until this afternoon, but the job is done. The piano is finally within reach of the MIDI computer. One step at a time.

Of course, some other projects aren’t performing to my standards. That whole Plex thing is a frustration; works only when it wants to, rather than when I want it to. Back to moving movies on a flash drive, until I get a flash of inspiration. Works for other things, right?

I received a gentle reminder that “we need more trees”. No, the dog wasn’t involved in this one. My gut feeling is that we should wait until the ground thaws. Just sitting the root bundle on top of the snow isn’t recommended procedure. Gives me time to pick and choose; I won’t be able to get any mature oak trees at the local nursery, and my hope for a fruit orchard will require some better planning than “eat a peach”. Oranges are also not recommended (that pesky snow, again). In the end, I can foresee some maples, given that they grow well up here in Canada. Oh, and maybe a chestnut tree, since the garage up the way has had great luck with theirs.
