Hardware stores equal temptations
Half-past eight, in the evening. Local time. Around me, things are darker than usual, because I’m a participant in the worldwide Earth Hour. Can’t tell if my neighbours are involved; distance and heavy tree cover change the mood. I did notice an invitation on the electronic sign, as we drove through town earlier.
Our routine varied, a little, today. We skipped breakfast, in order to watch some curling, and then had lunch at the new restaurant in early afternoon. The food was good. Why don’t those words rhyme, I wonder?
We stopped in to see a new puppy, at a friend’s shop. The crate will need to be upsized…
Too nice a day to go straight home; we detoured via Montague, where the occasion to wander through a hardware store was too enticing to miss. I didn’t buy, but there were things on my list. A cedar scraper for the BBQ. A pilot light switch for the water tanks. Solar covers to replace the ones on the deck railing. Luminescent paint for the basement steps. Better light fixtures for the kitchen area. Actually, I’m one step short of impulsive in places like that.
Must carry on. While in the local grocery, I found more corned beef. A dandy meal ahead!
Back home, another squirrel was waiting for his transport to new surroundings. There may be an endless supply, I fear. I returned home via the Lake, where the boats have not yet come out of winter storage. With fishing just over a month away, the haulers should be out and about any time now. I should go for “before and after” photos.
