A new menu in an old place
Even if the day didn’t go according to the initial plan, I’m content. Got to try some alternative activities along the way. You see, there was supposed to be some kid-minding, but that got cancelled. Left us with the whole day to spend away from the home base.
Down in the city, we had heard that you could have coffee in the other official language. A social moment or two. We found the coffee (not as good as at home), but the music was better. And when the coffee mug was drained, we went to the bank and negotiated a better fee plan. With some extra money ahead, our next detour took us through a nearby kitchen gadget store. So many toys…
The big draw was over at the local arena; the ice was out and the home products folks were in place. For us, not exactly a recap of last year at this time, because our needs have evolved. We managed to meet with the main parties involved in getting our house ready; two years after the fact and we’re still on great terms with everybody. Baby pictures, stories of new challenges, even an oil filter. Seriously: the generator guy wanted to remind me that oil doesn’t change itself. An incentive, once things warm up a bit more.
We were doing the “what if” game. What if we improved the basement bath area? What if we air-conditioned? What if we went for a durable roof covering? You can do almost anything, for a price.
On the way home, I remembered that there was a new restaurant in the area. Open for business since breakfast time today. Forget a home-cooked meal, when we could be the beta testers for a new menu. Their POS system still has a few flaws, but we had the new menu with new music, in a familiar location.
