Averted the need for a personal rainbarrel
On the calendar, I’ve pencilled in my note for today: “Emergency averted”. With the assistance of someone who walks on the rooftop (no, not Santa), new shingles are in place. When the winds return, later this evening, I’ll sleep more soundly.
Kudos to the contractor. My emailed photo of a homebrew rain barrel, in the basement, may have helped. Actually, I learned that he tries to avoid “getting in touch”, given my tendency to request assistance for things. His bottom line vs my home. You can see where my spirit lies.
With that resolved, I was able to get back to keeping the dog amused. He understands where we store those yummy dog biscuits, but he hasn’t mastered (or has he?) just how to get access. Squatting near the cupboard, and spinning in four-paw drive seems to get results, so he does just that.
I’ve learned that Pinterest has a LOT more than hints from Heloise. Seriously. How to secure a garage door against home invaders. How to make a cofferdam (in that same garage). The necessary tools to store tools. Using PVC pipe for just about anything. No wonder there’s an app, to make access “fun for the whole family”.
Another app I learned of, this afternoon: the basics of programming in Swift, which is like Basic without line numbers, or Logo without a logo. I’m going to plunge ahead and see if the app can teach me how to create an app. So sci-fi to someone of my age. So preschool for the newbies (children) of the world.
