A palette instead of a module

posted in music |

Went shopping this afternoon, hoping to score a small chicken for an intimate dinner. Really, I don’t need a $60 turkey to get me through the holiday season (and beyond). No luck. I’ve adapted my menu, and we’ll now have chicken that comes without a skeleton. Safer for the dog, but my carving skills will take a back seat.

I noticed another problem, while in the market. For the first time since we’ve moved back, more people know my name than the other way around. I take great pride in knowing who people are, along with their parents, grandparents, peripheral cousins… it’s part of the genealogical skill set. That’s why, when someone comes up in the canned veggie aisle, addresses me by name and thanks me for the Christmas card I (we?) sent, I’m nonplussed.

In fact, I had to wait until I got back home to determine who the strangers really were. Neighbours, albeit from beyond the crossroad. I’ll improve. It’s a matter of pride.

Purchased an interesting app last evening; a sound palette. I’d been considering checking out the used world for a sound module (so ’90s), but this is even more versatile, and at a much better price point. Yes, it requires the iPad and a large Bluetooth speaker in application, but that’s just a detail. I now have some really interesting “pads”, thanks to the iPad and all. No concert planned, but if you stop by, I might noodle out some interesting chord progressions. Not exactly applied jazz, but I’m still new at the game.
