On the road
Eleven hours is long enough to set my clock back an hour. This was a travel day, in the real sense.
We packed our bags before going to bed, so the backfill of the car trunk was easy, even in the dark. Out of the driveway by 05h45, almost a record for us.
Among the neat things seen: snow in Brookvale (as we detoured around the construction close to Cornwall. Seeing the new extension cord offloading from the cable ship, near Borden. More snow in NB. Even more snow on that stretch between Edmunston and Riviere-du-Loup (which remains incomplete). The impossibility of dining in a McDo, when two school bus loads of clients arrive just before me; Subway was almost as full, but I did get my order.
My day, as a passenger, offered little more, but we arrived in familiar territory before rush hour. Headed straight for the caisse, and received a replacement debit card that actually works.
At the hotel, the dog headed our parade to a spacious room where we then tried to plan an evening with the kids. Not so simple. Eating in shifts in the restaurant, so that the dog didn’t stress out. Discussing medical history with those same kids (no idea what set that off). This is vacation time.
As for the rest of the planet, I have no idea what happened today. No reference point. I’ll catch up later, after a good night of sleep. And tomorrow, I’ll play it by ear. After all, I know the territory.
