The night of the great debate
Last week, I learned about the wonder of the Forstner bit. Bought one. This week, I learned that you can’t go with just one, like certain snack foods. Not a question of flavour; more one of size. I need a larger diameter, and so I’ll wait to finish my project.
This was another lawn day, where I am a spectator to the mad driving in circles. With the reduced temperature, thanks to the changing season, our stall interval is greatly reduced. By extension, if we only take care of the lawn during mid-winter, the mechanical woes will disappear. Hmm…
Tonight, the first one-on-one between the GOP and Dems. It starts late (time zone to blame), but I may just join the curious. Either online or on-TV. As one commentator put it, watching a train wreck is wrong, but interesting. Which one will derail first?
Provincial sales tax climbs a point at the end of this week. I have no big purchase plans, so this will serve only to erode my buying power (a little bit). That’s what the government is counting on; that we the people will simply shrug and carry on. To hear their side of us, we’ll all be better off because there’ll be more dollars in the common kitty. From where I sit, that just means more monies for the friends of the powerful. Own a chain of hotels? Come on down. Got a great way to increase your net worth? Put the palm forward.
But, if you’re living on a fixed budget, at the low end, this will just mean less for your family. After all, you have to be rich to be rich, in the eyes of the powerful.
