House erasure

posted in environment |

Now that was easy! I’ve registered, online, to take part in an upcoming plebiscite.  The goal is to decide if I and my peers wish to modify the current electoral system, away from the FPTP to something more balanced. All in favour, raise your hand! The registration used an existing identification code to prove that I am who I say I am, and the cost to the public purse should be far below the replaced process of sending canvassers door to door.

Today, I had my eyes tested. Certainly not the first time, but there is a change. I now only have one eye worth consideration; the other has been initialed away. As well, my prescription remained stable, so this will be “just to get you some shinier lenses” (as in unscuffed). I’m pleased, even if I had to pay to be told that there was nothing new to report.

Among my latest acquisitions, there’s a throne. Don’t worry; I’m not planning to take control of the land and levy unreasonable taxes.

It’s Thursday, and I’ve had a good feed of “boiled dinner” (corned beef and cabbage). Thank you, Joanne!

A friend’s house is gone. Erased. I knew that the destructors were due, but to see a patch of replacement lawn where I’d once visited and helped to paint – odd. When I was little, I believed that houses were “forever”. Now, not so much. My own homes are running about half gone, now. Schools and hospitals, ditto. My own personal “Sim City” revisited. Best go and check on my own home!
