Double-feature cinema
Two evenings and my double-feature cinema is over. I decided to dig into the archives, and bring up some Hitchcock from before I was born. A chance to see the world in monochrome.
With “Strangers On A Train” and “Rope”, I had the occasion to see Farley Grainger, who was (until now) a name that I recognized but only because I’d seen it referenced. Now, with several hours of suspense behind me, I can say that Hitchcock knows how to weave interesting passion plays. Murderous, perhaps, but part of the catalogue. So, what shall I watch next?
The afternoon was also a study in life-and-death; family history. Fun to push back the fog and see where a person “comes from”. A few false starts, but the story continues to unfold.
New iPhone announced, and the main feature is one that is missing. Sort of. The headphone jack has been removed, but there’s now an adapter that brings audio out from the Lightning port. I wonder? Can I get there on an iPad? Time to read up on the wonders of the port; might be able to do all sorts of interesting things.
If you want proof that the music business is doing “fine business”, look no further than the reported robbery from Drake’s tour bus, where his DJ lost a briefcase containing a million dollars in bling. Put that in layman’s terms: the equivalent of a lifetime of salary earned for most of us, just brought along to show how much money can buy.
