Stop for the flashing lights, kid
Obviously, certain messages aren’t getting through. About telephones, for example. There’s only one safe way to text while behind the steering wheel, and it involves being parked. The only way. Now, take a look around you, when in town, and see if you can spot the “dodo”. No sense sending them a message, because they aren’t paying attention.
Similarly, once school season begins (like today), there is a reasonable expectation that there will be school buses out there, rolling and stopped, and rolling to a stop. The vehicles are painted a gaudy yellow, and the lights flash – a lot. The better to see them, etc. To the young man who raced past a stopped bus, this morning, and its companion police car: You deserve what you got. That $1000 fine and 8 demerit points (against your learner’s permit) show that you really belong IN the bus, not nearby in a car. I hope the pain will be long remembered, idgit!
Now back to regular life. Another community group meeting, where I learned about the costs of mice and fences. Cut to the short version; they both require money to install, remove and care for.
Watched a plane pass overhead, after supper, at low altitude. Turns out that a neighbour was on board for a tour, so it explains the overflight. Heck, given the opportunity, I’d go up (with my camera) in a heartbeat. Too much fun to spot out the local features from a different perspective. Short of investing in a drone (highly unlikely), I’ll be using Google Earth for the foreseeable future.
