Watch for the wood-wanderers
Just back from supper (we ate out, because… we felt like it). No dishes to do. Anyhow, looking at my calendar for the next little bit, and I realize that I’m more busy than when I had “a job”. Seriously, subtract that fifty hours a week from the timetable, and I used to have a lot of down time. Now, not so much.
If we wanted to go on a road trip, I’d have to wait until the fall rush is over. That would be better for the dog, who accepts his time as a passenger, but rarely requests it. I have to go into the city tomorrow, while I get to check how much I no longer see, and he hasn’t asked to come along. We’ll see, hairy guy.
Back to life in the country. Some new road signs, up the way (that’s rare), warning that there are cattle on the loose. Scary, because cows are notorious about forgetting to signal before turning off into a field. I’m actually wondering who has a herd of wood-wanderers. All it takes is a weak spot in the fence and cattle will roam without leave. Haven’t heard of anyone hitting their next steaks yet.
Out on the water, it looks like the tuna season is underway. I saw some catch pics on the web, which means that the “horse mackeral” is back for another tour. This has been going on since back in my grandfather’s time; nothing new, other than the market strategy. I wonder if the buyers are also about?
