The slowed medal count

posted in computing |

I think I’m guilty of software disobedience. The latest update for this site encouraged me to “do a backup” before proceeding. I tried. After two hours of watching the blue progress line, I realized that there were other, more important things to do. And so, I closed the page and cancelled my effort. Now, with a new version of software in place, I might go back and try again. Why don’t they (the developers) create a speed backup for the impatient?

Went out for a family lunch with my mother and one of my sisters. That hasn’t happened in a very long time. Distance, etc. play a deciding role in such things. I hope that we can shorten the time until the next meal together.

And now I’m here with the dog, because he didn’t want to go to the circus, either. Too much opportunity to be upstaged by professionals, for both of us. I haven’t jumped through a real hoop in ages, and my days of balancing on beach ball are just a distant memory. I’m going to assume the same for his dogginess. Neither of us are going to run away and join the troupe.

I notice that the medal count seems to have slowed, this last couple of days. I’ll blame it on the scheduling of events. Or the lack of snow. This is not a “summer” country, in spite of our beautiful beaches, and  I accept that the anthem will play less often for these games. Just wait for a couple of years. We’ll (I’m using the tribal we here) will be back collecting fancy medallions!
