The preparation for visitation

posted in environment |

I’ve found another chapter of my “story” in a recent book. The Glenalladale Settlers are working hard to find the identities of those who sailed into a small Island harbour, back in 1772. Finally, a detailed list of the passengers has allowed me to “find” some more of my forebears. Cool!

We’ve been awaiting the arrival of more immediate family, today. Driving, rather than sailing, over from the other shore. Of course, our summer schedule is a little intense, and we had another social event pencilled in for today; a supper, with friends. Finally, we simply said to ourselves that we would match the hours of the day, as best we could. The dog got car duty, and we brought ourselves and some food to assure our place at the communal table.

Good conversation, some new faces, and then done. Home to find our guests waiting in the driveway. Our texts hadn’t crossed… No matter. Inside for good conversation, familiar faces and a chance to catch up on the other chapters of the extended family tree.

Having people in means prep time. Do you clean up, before guests arrives? If you say “no”, then someone else is doing the dirty (to clean) on your behalf. It’s human nature. Anyhow, I’ve covered my sweating pipes with foam, and I’ve put my basement space back in order. Now, if someone questions my intentions for the basement, I can show some progress. Don’t try to quantize,  please. My intentions are good! By this time next year (famous last words).
