Work through the distraction

posted in environment |

This evening, I’m trying to work through the distraction. Or kill it. Both, actually. While I was preparing supper, several mosquitoes decided to come inside and then prepare the hunting ground. I’m the prey, apparently. I’m willing to offer up a little blood to their cause, but only if the drill and spill is quick and painless. So far, they’re failing.

Summer, when people come to visit. This afternoon, a couple that I hadn’t met before (well, OK, the bride, but not the groom). In the neighbourhood, dropping in to see where we’ve placed ourselves. I don’t mind, but that might be where the bloodsuckers actually gained entry. Under cover of daylight, etc.

And now, with a new family tree to trace, I’ve managed to set aside my real task. Until tomorrow… have to get those negatives copied; the clock is ticking down and if I show up with only a nod and a story about “distraction”, the audience might find the program a bit dull. I will get the job done. You can feel my intention, right?

So, what happened in the outside world today? I did change the windshield wipers, early this morning. Makes a real difference, when you can see through the smears. I should have done this ages ago. Good intentions, etc. It all ties together.  for the record, changing wipers when it’s a) above freezing, b) not raining c) without the added risk of cars speeding by… much simpler. That “lift and snap” detail is easier, when you can see the lift and hear the snap.
