Working with a list
Give me a list and I’ll get it done. That’s one of my mottos. This morning, up with the sun, I decided to go to town on the current one.
I didn’t even wait for coffee, knowing that any extra cargo on the way down would just distract me from my list. To town, in average time, once I’d moved the path over to the north side (much less fog); my first disappointment was to find out that the first company had already been open for thirty minutes. So much for my “out of the park” early bird technique. Didn’t matter, really, because the company had exactly what I wanted, at the quoted price, and my total time on site fell to a meagre six minutes.
The next stop, now that I was on my game, was easy. They were also open, and had what I wanted in stock. I even got a great deal on AA batteries (not on the list, actually) from a friendly cash person. In and out, with time to spare before my next stop. Enough of a push to go for one of those fast-food breakfasts that make travel so epicuriously confusing.
I needed a new pair of pants with removable legs. The old pair had disintegrated (no, really), but the size numbers were on a tag inside. Made getting a replacement really simple; no need to test the comfort of a changing room. Just look at the tags and then get gone.
Don’t worry, my list is almost done. I had to get some rings and things, and that also required less than ten minutes of meter time. My list was done. I turned around and headed home. Total trip, under four hours.
