A new family game
The family has a new game. Almost a sport; you drop the cake cover over the squirrel, and then you transport it several kilometers away with enough seeds to start out on a new life. Four, so far this afternoon, and the sun isn’t set, yet. Oddly, we have one of those fancy commercial cages on order. I suspect it will be nowhere near as effective.
Today, I visited two new business locations in town. First, the handicraft market; this is day one, I think. We didn’t purchase anything, but one shouldn’t always buy on impulse. Next on the list, the new florist. Actually has orchids on sale, and a nifty cool room for roses. We purchased some sort of green plant that promises to climb all over the china cupboard if we don’t pay attention.
Not much else happening, here. The hummingbirds are a risk to anyone wearing traces of red; tiny, needle-beeked dive bombers. I played with “motor drive” type photos, but my exposure was not even ballpark. More practice needed. All I have to do is open the deck door and stand still; the action begins within the minute. Now to choose the pose: perched or in hover mode.
Newfoundland and their budget. Wow! Tonight, the price of gas will jump by 16.5 cents a litre, completely apart from any industry adjustments. Pretty much the best way I know to keep the tourists away. After all, the place is too big for a single-day walkabout. I wonder if the ferries will also have to pay more for fuel, or if they can claim Nova Scotia as the home port.
