Remind me, please

posted in economy |

I may be quibbling over details here, but I’ve noticed something different from where I used to live. Has to do with debt. Over the past year, I’ve had to call people and remind them that they haven’t billed me for their services.

Elsewhere, that could be abused. Here, I feel morally obligated to settle up. It goes beyond the other party knowing who I am (at so many levels) or where I live. Just one of those puzzles, I guess.

Anyhow, spring is really here; the whole house is suffering from allergies. Unfortunately, the balance between feeling really congested and feeling really off-kilter from the side effects of OTC tablets is a hard choice. I’ve gone through the afternoon wishing that we were back in yesterday. If I’m fortunate, this season will pass rapidly, without my needing to concentrate on anything more intricate than where to sit (and nap).

Noticed on the news that someone has a new startup business in the province. For $80, a cook will show up, prepare meals for the week, do the dishes and leave. I’m not sure I understand… My kitchen time is almost cathartic. The Maytag Maid does the dishes (after minimum prep on my part). The fridge always has leftovers. Where’s the benefit? I guess my schedule differs from the target clientele.

The Island has redefined the definition of “resident”, again. Now you must spend 365 days out of a two-year period. As compared to living here half the time. Pardon my confusion. Did they have a problem with people not wanting to hang around?
