Ditch mix
The dog agrees; a walk in the woods is just a better way to start the day. The snow is almost all gone, except for the odd collection under a low-lying limb. The tall grasses aren’t up, so making our way was easy and direct. I now have a better idea of what lies directly north of here.
In fact, without wind, we could hear the ferry long before it came into view. Odd, that. And the occasional leaping hare served to remind us that we share the neighbourhood. Also positive. In fact, later this afternoon, I managed to get my first photos of a perched eagle. Hare, beware?
I helped with some math questions, and the various volumes of compost and peat went from concept to a firm order down at the local hardware store. Delivery, for a fee, on Friday; still better than making several loaded trips in the car. I also took the hint from the soil seller, and detoured via the feed mill. Highway blend, or as some call it “ditch mix” was in stock, but the cash only requirement means I’ll have to return, tomorrow. One bag may be enough to get our dirt patch contributing to the oxygen needs of the neighbourhood.
My first big contact campaign for the reunion is done. If all respond, we’ll have our foundation 30% aware. The next part will require more resources than I have on hand; a proper mail/phone sweep, for example. Have to see how that works. In the meantime, I’m going through dozens of boxes, looking for the yearbook repository.
