Not sampling soils

posted in environment |

An early morning hardware store run, and with it the ability to get another job off my todo list. I needed driver bits; with the right one in the chuck, my garden frames were assembled before lunchtime. Now on to the difficult part.

Actually, I’m not sure how that will play out. My original idea of roaming the neighbouring fields with a trowel, sampling soil until I’d filled the wheelbarrow now seems impractical. Someone will notice me; dirt is important. And snitching mud in the dark is just too off the wall for my liking.

Instead, we’ll call a local contractor who has both a truck and sifted soil piles. In exchange for the right amount of money, our garden will be one step closer to productivity. Really. A lot of hares, waiting for their share of the greenery. And no, I’m not about to get into the bunny catching business, no matter how many carrots cry out for assistance.

Had a friend drop in, this afternoon. The dog seemed unsure about protocol, so he barked, then sniffed, then studiously ignored the visitor. I’m tasked with repurposing some older laptops, so the weekend will see me ramping up my assembly line. I’m going to try a couple of Open Source Solutions, to avoid falling into the mire of endless upgrade hell from the Windows world. Old machines aren’t ready for a force-feeding of Ten.

And, finally, my pair of agreements (a lease by any other name would spell as sweet) are complete and emailed off for a final inspection before the great signing session.
