Insufficiently green

posted in media |

I’ve just learned that my salad servings lack “greenery”. My take on the subject is that once you’ve added several kinds of cheese, a real meat (think ham, or chicken) and some tomato, there’s not much room left. Also, Popeye taught me that spinach was super; isn’t that sufficiently chlorophyllian?

The star behind my favourite “split screen illusion” has passed. Patty Duke was prime-time fare at our house (single station TV), and although I was surrounded by close relatives, I was naive enough to believe that “identical cousins” were a real possibility. Anyhow, she will be remembered.

Odd day; from the sideward blowing snow in the heavy fog, through gusty winds from all around the rose, the day just kept busy. Watching the small birds land and blow sideways (like the snow) was actually amusing. At one point, the acro-squirrel climbed to the top of the feeder stand and stayed there, unwilling to risk a short-lived career in free flight. He eventually fell, but I think the wind offered a softened landing.

Not so clement, for those on board a plane trying to land in the Maggie’s just after lunch. All died on impact. I’ve flown out of that area, and today’s winds didn’t leave many safe options for any pilot. We forget that air transport isn’t as miraculous as the movies would have us believe. What goes up goes down, etc. My sympathies to the relatives, and a recall to the rest of us; if you can’t walk there, maybe you should reconsider the options.
