Fall in different directions

posted in food |

An early start to the day; that’s where you have coffee before you need to. Bright, calm. Perfect conditions to head off to the lumber yard for another set of planter frames. Just on a hunch, check the probs. About the same time as I decoded the “freezing rain” warning, snow started to fall, in different directions including up (it does that, around here). Best wait this one out, I calculated.

When I went off for milk and mail, in early afternoon, my decision was validated. We were back into nasty winter. Even if this only lasts for a day, my trip to town will now be “at a later date”. As the storekeep put it, forget those summer tires for a little while more.

And so I decided to do other things. That backing wall for the Murphy has now been repurposed. Sound panels for the studio, possibly. We looked thing over and realized that there would be no gain in following the original plan. Total cost to me: some time with a measuring tape on a snow day.

The Yanks are going gaga for our celebrity politico. Much more photogenic than what they might be getting in the next draft; does an orange comb-over look good on anything other than a vintage troll doll? Didn’t think so. Saw the menu for their state dinner; I’d probably eat what was on my plate, but I’ll not try to reproduce the meal here at home. Too many steps. Besides, I’ve mastered the pork chop. And variations on ‘shrooms depend on beef, not pork.
