Perhaps a postcard in the mail

posted in environment |

Not as quiet in the house as I had expected. The refrigerator is always gurgling, and when the plow tracks by, I know about that, too. The other day, I heard the ferry sail past, and the horn wasn’t blowing… I guess that every place comes with ambient noise.

While the others are off to the big screen evening, this would be a perfect time to annoy the dog with some instrumental interludes. I wonder if he has any preferences? Do dogs even do hit parades? Perhaps a little drum ‘n bass.

Really, I’m content. No need for an industrial soundtrack in my life, and a “server alarm” right now would find me seriously worried about the where and the why. When the dog barks at invisible stuff, I’m right beside him at the window, hoping to learn from the master. After all, the ability to detect whatever it is would be one of those useful skills.

I did call home (close family, who are long distance contacts), and I learned that their daily routine is just as relaxed as mine. Must be a seasonal order. One of the siblings has gone south for a week; I can’t even imagine how that must feel. I’ve never done it, and the sibling is a rookie. Perhaps I’ll get a postcard in the mail, or at least a shoutout on FB with some pictures of an alien environment. Palm trees, I bet.

When asked if I’d like to go on a roadtrip, I just point to the hound and smile. When he wants to go…
