The roads were “interesting”

posted in Wx |

A long weekend is hard on the spirit. Makes the calendar skip a step. That’s why, just after dawn, I was charging through the drifting snow in a mix of PJs and winter clothes, dragging huge blue plastic bags full of recycled milk cartons out to the the edge of the road. Our best garbage gets picked up once per month; if you miss the date, the pile grows anew. Happily, I was ahead of the truck (but not by much).

And that drifting snow? Didn’t last long; by the time I returned from a short food run in town, mid-morning, the winds had dropped and the temperature was doing a hard rise. Where yesterday  we had to contend with -20C, right now things have climbed past +4C. Of course the drifting snow won’t last, in a melt. Mind you, the roads this morning were “interesting”, which is a polite way of saying “potential for testing the ditch at any moment”.

I missed the Grammy Award show (where only five awards were actually presented during the telecast). I also missed the new movie about “Anne of Green Gables”. Good thing I don’t have to hang around the proverbial water cooler now; I would be excluded from any conversation… The musical performances are now showing up on YouTube, but the Anne is MIA.

CBC is carrying photos from the “massive snow storm” that blew through Ottawa yesterday. I am underwhelmed! That’s just a normal day in my back yard. And people lined up for a city bus? How tough is that?
