New tools
Maybe it was due to the subliminal suggestion, implanted during last evening’s weather forecast. Or perhaps a restless dog, anxious not to miss a moment of a new day. Whatever; I was up before dawn, in time to see the crescent moon, Mars and Saturn in conjunction. Pretty, even if I still have no idea how to capture the image for posterity.
Speaking of stars (OK, planets), a new season of American Idol started, yesterday. This time around, I missed any advertisements and worse, I didn’t really care. There are so many stars… perhaps I’ll watched the auditions in delaycast, but the program no longer holds the magnetic appeal. Fifteen seasons. Whatever.
I now own a specialized tool that I hadn’t even heard of, months ago. A “chain wear indicator”. Cue the old man voice: “In my day, chains didn’t wear out”. Probably not, but that was then and this is now. My best price came from a dealer in the UK, via eBay. Shipping might have been long, but this isn’t quite the season where I care.
I’ve started a collection of specialized tools, actually. Each one, a credit to a bright mind. Or a desperate one; with tools it’s hard to be sure.
We’ve noticed that there are lots of wild tracks through the yard, now that snow provides a “slate”. Right now, I’d like a slight storm, just to renew the surface. Turns out that even the crows leave trails. And, that suet cage from the front porch ended up in middle of the lawn, which makes me think that certain birds are brighter than I had given credit. Best not leave any doors ajar.
