Long, dark evenings

posted in politics |

Just over a month away from winter solstice, and already the day goes by too quickly. Still not into “prime time”, but the sun set hours ago and bedtime is not until a more socially acceptable moment. Let the record show that the dog has no such constraint.

About all I accomplished today was related to food. Making a list. Shopping for staples. Preparing a pork curry. Serving same and then tidying up. That’s it. Hardly going to change the course of world history based on that. Oh, one other detail (for the list); I “registered” the generator on the manufacturer’s support site.

And that leaves me wondering. I was under the impression that the contractor had already taken care of the (virtual) paperwork. Activation codes, adding me to mailing lists, whatever. If so, the code I received by email, this afternoon, just adds to the confusion. Whatever.

Also, the lost delivery (from yesterday) was found, in the post office compartment. That I checked yesterday. Suddenly, my understanding of how my mail gets to me has a bump. Should I check more often (compulsive model) or later in the day (just before dark)? What about weekends? I know; if I check less frequently, my success rate (found content) should rise…

Also, there was talk of us installing a post box “on the property”, just so we could participate in rural beautification. And feed the snow plow. I’ll see if that idea is still valid, and current, after the snow season ends. Gives me a few months to postulate solutions to a non-existant problem.

An important question, this morning, from one of our senators: If France declares war, do we get sucked into the vacuum due to our NATO membership? Well, do we? I can’t believe that hasn’t dawned on the mind of anyone else on the Hill. Another vacuum…
