A tractor of our own
The world, as seen through the eyes of others: the new video by Taylor Swift has come under criticism, for presenting an “idealized view of colonialism in Africa”. I guess the complainers have run out of stuff to get excited about.
Moving right along. Our tractor arrived in the driveway this afternoon. Not under its own power; too far and too long a voyage. No, one of those fancy trailers with the flipdown ramps, so that machinery can be wheeled down in style.And it did; driven by an employee of the machinery dealership. He proceeded to give us a rapid course on what pedal to push if we wanted to go riding, and then he was off. “Long way from ‘town”.
It doesn’t matter. I brought out a camera that could “do” video, and captured a short sequence of herself driving around the perimeter at a sober speed. No cutting today. That excitement will have to wait for the proper moment (probably tomorrow).
Someone posted photos of the Assiniboine, which is rumoured to lie just up the way. Must get better directions. The aerial photos aren’t detailed enough to be sure, but one of the locals will know exactly which road through the trees will lead to the right stretch of beach.
With the browser already open, I decided to look at other sites in the area. There’s a road that the dog and I have used as a turnaround spot; there used to be a full farm in there, several decades back. Son #3 and I went for a wander through the brambles, finding nothing on the way in, and then narrowly missing falling into several deep holes on the way back.
