Safe backup models
Forget about imminent drought. It’s been raining, all day. I can see traces in the sloping sections of the lawn-to-be, which means that we’re going to have to reseed certain areas. No big deal; the contractor warned about such things. Even the dog played wise and refused to take me outside until there was a short window of opportunity. He is so polite!
Spent the afternoon listening to YouTube through my headphones. I like what I hear. As well, I’m not forcing others in the immediate area to join my circle of obscure musical tastes. Funny how some of the old stuff (this means you, Led Zeppelin) can sound “brand new”.
Involved in a discussion about safely keeping digital content backed up. So many models, all with problems… I happen to find Dropbox is a suitable compromise, albeit with a cost. The danger of hardware based solutions (external hard drive) is that a virus might wipe out everything; a costly way of staying safe. Most users are unable (not unwilling) to imagine the vectors that are open for malware attacks. Guess that is what keeps the tech class in business.
Moved one step closer to trying the new (used) lathe this afternoon, after some careful reading. I learned how to attach a faceplate to a block of wood (important piece of information), and how to move the banjo around to make tool use more efficient. As soon as we get a plan for sawdust capture, the first experiments will take place. Have to find some goggles.
