The dog walking the boy

posted in environment |

The dog had a good idea. If he no longer had the right to roam around the yard (due to the recent seeding), we’d just find another yard to roam. Or a field; same difference. And so with the sense of exploration at a peak, we headed up the road.

There’s a field, just beyond the treeline. I’ve seen lights in there, as someone cuts hay after dark. Time to go and see what might be over there. The wonderful thing about a different field is that it is similar, but not. We wandered along the hedgerow, down to the bottom and back up. Just over there; a break in the brush, leading through to a familiar roadway. We weren’t lost just because we had gone out of sight of the house.

I figure that we won’t see new grass for a couple of weeks, so wandering just became the new normal for “the boy and the dog”.

Had to go shopping for odd bits at the hardware store this afternoon. Repair kit for an extension cord. A suitable waste paper container. ABS cement. A wok… scratch that; the price is too high for my budget. Looks like we’ll be visiting the Paderno rink sale after all. Followed my hardware sprint with a visit to the pharmacy to get another bottle of hummingbird nectar. Didn’t even know the product existed before this week.

Too lazy to make supper? Go for an oversize pizza. Still hot when I get home, and the leftovers will taste fine, hot or cold.
